Patrick Ard is a contemporary mixed media artist located near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in graphic design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 2007, he provided a number of companies with freelance designs and fine artwork.
During the Covid pandemic, Patrick began painting regularly as a positive outlet to find peace. Since then, he has become an internationally known artist having pieces in the US as well as Europe and Canada. Patrick turns to bold colors and nostalgia for many of his paintings however nature and portraits play a big role in his creativity as well. Acrylics are his primary media choice however he also works with ink, watercolor, clay and various other materials to create an emotional response from viewers.
Patrick defines his artistic style as loose Realism with a bit of Impressionism influenced by pop art and the media. His favorite artists include Charles Shulz, Andy Warhol and Claude Monet. Using the techniques he has mastered over the years, Patrick’s art reflects life’s daily events, music and pets. That is where the love of painting Wheaten Terriers comes in. Finny, the Wheaten, joined Patrick in early 2018 and since then he has embraced being a “Wheaten person” and finds joy in capturing the essence of the breed.
When he is not working or creating, Patrick and his husband, Tony lead a quiet life enjoying time spent with one another as well as their friends.
